Members of the TIME Lab presented ongoing research in cancer mechanics and materials at the 8th annual Notre Dame-Purdue Soft Matter and Polymers Symposium. With over 100 attendees from fields ranging from physics to chemistry to mechanical engineering, this symposium offered a unique opportunity to discuss new multidisciplinary ideas. Graduate student Alice Burchett presented ongoing efforts to understand immunomechanical form and function of cancer myeloid cells. Graduate student Julian Najera was chosen as one of the best poster winners for presenting the lab’s recent preprint on cancer cell mechanics. Prof. Datta discussed emerging ideas inspired by the soft matter and polymer fields, including novel ways to mathematically and experimentally model tumor growth and treatment.
