TIME Lab summer REU students showcase their work at poster symposium

This week, four REU students from the TIME Lab presented their research at the Notre Dame 2023 Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium. These posters were presented by:

  • Brian Lawlor (University of College Dublin) who was supported by a Naughton Fellowship and studied brain cancer fibroblasts with grad student Maksym Zarodniuk.
  • Dorielis Rodriquez (Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico) who was supported by the CBE SMASH REU and studied brain vs. breast cancer cell mechanical properties with postdoc Killian Onwudiwe.
  • Monica Leal Palma (Universidad de las Americas Puebla) who was supported by the NDnano NURF Fellowship and created nanoparticles to target breast cancer-associated fibroblasts with grad student Julian Najera. Monica was co-mentored by Prof. Roeder and grad student Lan Li in the AME Department.
  • Anya Zhang (Smith College) who was supported by the Praxis Fellowship and created macrophage-cancer cell spheroids to model brain tumors with grad student Alice Burchett.
